Xiaomi to Unveil 18 Pro in China on September 23

Xiaomi is set to unveil the Xiaomi 18 Pro in China on September 23, 2026, as the company prepares to reveal its next flagship smartphone.

Xiaomi has scheduled its autumn launch event for 7 p.m. China time. The event is part of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit, which is taking place in Maui from September 22 to 24.

Rear display returns

The company has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro will bring back a rear display positioned across the camera area. Promotional material shows two camera lenses appearing on the screen, with a third lens placed below it.

Images released by Xiaomi also show a Leica-branded triple-camera system and an additional side button. The previous Xiaomi 17 Pro did not have that extra button.

Key specifications remain unconfirmed

Several major specifications have circulated through reports and leaks, but Xiaomi has not yet formally confirmed them. The phone may use a next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, although the final chip has not been named.

Leaks have also pointed to a possible 2-nanometre manufacturing process. A Geekbench listing for a Xiaomi device identified as M610BB showed approximately 16GB of RAM and two cores reaching 5.01GHz, but the listing has not been officially linked to the retail Xiaomi 18 Pro.

Reported camera details include a 200-megapixel main sensor and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with macro support. Those reports have not established the final sensors, apertures, focal lengths or video capabilities.

Battery estimates vary. The most repeated reports indicate a capacity of about 7,000mAh, while some later reports suggest it could reach 8,000mAh. Reports have also mentioned 100W wired charging and wireless charging, though Xiaomi has not confirmed the charging specifications.

The phone is expected to use HyperOS 4 based on Android 17 in China, but that software combination remains an expectation rather than a confirmed specification. Other details, including display resolution, refresh rate, brightness, protective glass, memory configurations, storage, network bands and water-resistance rating, have not been announced.

Global and Nigerian availability undecided

Xiaomi has confirmed only the Chinese unveiling. The company has not announced a global release date, international markets, Nigerian availability, a price or a first-sale date for the Xiaomi 18 Pro.

The uncertainty follows the previous model’s regional rollout. The Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max were limited to China, while the standard Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra were later released in international markets.

For comparison, the Xiaomi 17 Pro launched in China at CNY 4,999 for a version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It featured a 6.3-inch main display, three 50-megapixel rear cameras, a 6,300mAh battery, 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Those specifications and pricing cannot be treated as indications of the Xiaomi 18 Pro’s final configuration.

Xiaomi’s September 23 event is expected to provide the first official details on the phone’s processor, cameras, battery, charging, pricing and possible release plans beyond China.
